Last Call To Evacuate Black Residential Areas Before The “Peace Walls” Go Up
Welcome to the fourth installment of an ongoing series of You Betta Recognize posts. With this new blog, I had deliberately decided to mostly avoid doing “sound the alarm” posts. I figured that most regular readers heard the message at my previous blog (Muslim Bushido), and were already doing whatever they were going to do in response. However, it recently occurred to me that there might be a significant number of new readers who aren’t familiar with some of the predictions and warnings I gave at the previous blog. This post is a sort of “last call” for new readers.
LAST CALL TO GET OUT OF BLACK RESIDENTIAL AREAS WHILE YOU CAN
Let’s recap: Over the past few years, I’ve been strongly urging African-American women to run for their lives, and flee Black residential areas. As I say in the FAQ page to this blog,
You can’t optimize your lifestyle when you are living in physical danger. It’s time to face the truth that it is no longer safe to live within the so-called Black community. It’s time to face the truth that the greatest danger to any individual Black person’s life is usually found inside Black residential areas.
Most of you know this in your hearts. You might not want to admit this out loud, but you know this is true. With most Black residential areas, each day that you remain there you are playing Russian Roulette with your life and your loved ones’ lives. Don’t wait for your luck to run out, or for your loved ones’ luck to run out. Like Blair Holt’s and Derrion Albert’s luck ran out in Chicago. Or countless other African-Americans’ luck runs out everyday within Black residential areas.
. . . I’m not saying to run to or from cities or suburbs. The distinction I’m making is not between city or suburb. I’m saying that African-Americans who want to survive and thrive must evacuate Black residential areas. In short, we must run from places where there are heavy concentrations of other Black folks. Black residential areas are generally violent, dangerous places to live.
I’m saying to flee to nonblack areas because nonblacks still have the will and the common sense to protect themselves and their areas from predators. Somewhere along the way during the 1960s, African-Americans became confused about the need to defend ourselves against predators. We adopted an ideology of coddling and caressing criminals. Now things have reached the point that many African-Americans will defend and minimize any atrocity committed by Black predators. (For examples, see the many inappropriate responses to the R. Kelly case, the Dunbar Village gang rape case, the Hovey Street murders, and too many other outrages to mention.)
As a result, most African-Americans have lost the common sense and will needed to uphold safety in our own areas. We resist anything likely to be effective in fighting violent crime. We don’t want to hire private, armed security. We don’t want to take up arms ourselves for self-defense. Much of the time, we don’t even want the predators arrested and imprisoned. Instead, we want to recite failed mantras about mostly nonexistent and ineffective “alternatives” to imprisoning predators.
Since African-Americans have become too confused to take the actions needed to safeguard our own lives, we need to “borrow” the benefits of other people’s common sense and will. We must flee to nonblack areas where the residents have the common sense and will to do what is needed to protect themselves against predators.
I’ve also said that you need to get out before the peace walls go up. The day will come when outside (i.e., White male dominated) law enforcement gets tired of even pretending to protect African-Americans from other African-Americans. We complain about police brutality when they do respond to what’s going on in Black residential areas. We complain when they don’t respond.
At some point, the police and the non-Black (White and emerging Latino) political elites that control them will decide to put up physical barriers around violent Black residential areas and call it a day. And have the police patrol the perimeter to make sure that the inhabitants stay inside those violent, crime-ridden neighborhoods at night. I’ve warned African-American women to rethink our traditional, knee-jerk reactions to the police. After all, White-male dominated law enforcement are the only organized group of male protectors that African-American women and children have! During You Betta Recognize, Part 2: White Male Dominated Law Enforcement Is The Only Thing Standing Between You And Mass Rape In Black Neighborhoods I said,
WE’VE SEEN WHAT HAPPENS WHEN WHITE MALE-DOMINATED LAW ENFORCEMENT PULLS BACK FROM POLICING AFRICAN-AMERICAN RESIDENTIAL AREAS: DUNBAR VILLAGE.
We know what happens when White male-dominated law enforcement pulls back from policing Black residential areas in the US. Dunbar Village. Rowan Towers. We also know that many (if not most) African-Americans (of both genders) are indifferent to these sorts of atrocities, as long as it’s not happening to them personally. . .
RECOGNIZE THAT AFRICAN-AMERICAN WOMEN HAVE NO ORGANIZED MALE PROTECTORS OTHER THAN WHITE MALE-DOMINATED LAW ENFORCEMENT.
With the limited exception of the Nation of Islam, there generally are no organized group of male protectors within Black residential neighborhoods. The masses of African-American men assume no responsibility whatsoever for protecting the women and children in their neighborhoods. That’s why deeply confused African-American women, such as the Deborah movement in Chicago try to take on the male duty of protecting Black residential areas. White male-dominated law enforcement is the only thing currently standing between the Black women and girls who live in Black neighborhoods and mass rape. More African-American women need to remember that before having knee-jerk anti-police reactions.
These “peace walls” have already been used in Northern Ireland and by the US Army in Iraq to quarantine certain neighborhoods from other neighborhoods. Look at the photos at this Wikipedia article about these walls. It’s a sneak preview of the walls that will be surrounding you. You’ll be living behind one of these peace walls (and walled in with the African-American thugs in your neighborhood) if you remain within Black residential areas.
A reader named Karen has recently mentioned that these peace walls have come to the Americas. She said,
“Peace Walls”
In our own hemisphere is a preview of what is coming our way. To the reading audience (AA Women and Girls), please take note of this and if you are in a “high-risk” area then please take action to escape as time is running out! Whatever the reasons that have been officially given, the fact remains that these walls are being constructed.
Karen gave links to news stories HERE and HERE. Here’s the beginning of the first article,
Cement-block walls are being built around the shantytowns of Rio de Janeiro. Authorities say it’s to save rainforests. The city’s poorest residents say it’s an attempt to shut them out.
When Francisco de Moraes looks at the wall, it angers him. He has one of the best views of Rio, overlooking the city, its shimmering beaches and Sugarloaf Mountain jutting from the sea. “We don’t have the right to have our opinion heard,” he said.
He speaks during a break from a soccer game on a makeshift cement field that’s wedged in by the wall. The “eco-wall,” as officials call it, runs up next to his house and around most of the Santa Marta shantytown where he and about 7,000 others live.
“The state government walled us in, so more houses wouldn’t be built in the forest,” de Moraes said. “But people felt imprisoned, like they were setting borders and limiting when we could come and go.”
The state of Rio de Janeiro began building the wall around Santa Marta in March, and it plans to spend $17 million on similar walls around the shantytowns.
WHY SHOULD YOU SERIOUSLY CONSIDER ALL OF THIS? BECAUSE I’VE BEEN RIGHT ABOUT OTHER, LITTLE-DISCUSSED, IMPORTANT THINGS
Unfortunately, most Black blogs are either talking about foolishness, or engaging in empty venting that does nothing to change one’s life circumstances. I don’t believe in wasting people’s time like that. Both here and at the previous blog, I’ve been committed to doing more than that. I’ve been committed to providing cutting edge analysis of the many trends that affect African-American women; and to providing actionable information to help readers achieve abundant life.
This has been my goal all along. In my own small way, I’ve been trying to help fill a void that has been left by the African-American misleadership class. I know our (mis)leaders don’t have any strategic planning in place. They’re not paying attention to the trend lines. Beyond reenacting protest scenes from 1950s Selma, I don’t know what these people are doing. Their only plan (such as it is) seems to consist of reacting to other people’s plans being implemented.
A Snapshot Of Several Accurate Predictions Made At Muslim Bushido
Let’s examine some of the predictions (both accurate and inaccurate) that were made at the previous blog, Muslim Bushido.
THE RAZING OF DEPRESSED U.S. CITIES WITH LARGE PERCENTAGES OF AFRICAN-AMERICAN RESIDENTS
On August 3, 2009, I warned that the federal government had been talking about razing sections of 50 economically depressed cities like Detroit, and letting nature reclaim the bulldozed districts. I found out about this because I read foreign, Western European media (who often cover stories about what’s happening within the US long before the US media mention it). As I noted at the time, however it worked out for Detroit’s non-Black yuppies, this scheme is unlikely to work out well for most of the affected African-American residents. Local and federal housing schemes have rarely worked well for African-Americans. In fact, Dick Gregory had a “joke” from the early 1970s where he remarked that, “Urban renewal means Negro removal.”
The other thing that informed my negative reaction to this scheme is what it says about the federal government’s planning for the cities: It says that they don’t expect these cities (that mostly have high percentages of African-Americans) to ever recover economically! In late March 2010, during his first State of the City address, Detroit Mayor Dave Bing announced his plan to downsize Detroit by demolishing 10,000 homes (his staff later referred to it as “right-sizing” to make it sound less ominous). The demolitions began in early April, 2010.
THE MANY REASONS BLACK WOMEN NEED TO WALK AWAY FROM THE HELPING PROFESSIONS
On April 25, 2009, I described the many reasons African-American women need to leave the helping professions and seek their own bliss. I noted that the helping fields are mostly balanced on Black women’s backs within the African-American collective. Black male professionals generally don’t go into helping sorts of jobs or careers. They’re generally not spending their work life trying to uplift downtrodden Black people. They’re too busy pursuing their own bliss. I noted that Black women need to catch the hint and do likewise!
I discussed in some detail how the legions of African-American women public schoolteachers were being scapegoated for the failures of negligent Black underclass parents. This essay is now a chapter in my book, but here are some things I mentioned,
Consider the disrespectful, dismissive attitudes that most Blacks have about public schoolteachers. Do these African-Americans even realize that the majority of countries on this planet don’t have free public school systems? Judging from our loud whining, we don’t know this basic fact that puts everything in perspective. In most countries, people have to buy school uniforms and books. They can’t just dump their children off each morning with no further investment on their part. They can’t simply use the schools as a free baby-sitting service. Which is how most African-Americans use the public schools.
The “Grassroots” Destroyed the Public Schools and Then Blamed You. Exhibit No. 2: Social Promotion
. . . Social promotion is the practice of passing children onto the next grade even though they haven’t mastered the material of their current grade. The grassroots parent-activists claimed that it was just too damaging to Black children’s delicate psyches to flunk individuals who didn’t master their grade-level material. Keep in mind, the grassroots pushed this initiative, not the Black middle class parents who were given even more incentive to remove their children from the local public schools.
The Chicago Board of Education gave in to these demands and implemented social promotion. The same grassroots activists complained bitterly about the resulting increased exodus of middle class Black children from the neighborhood public schools. The result was years of children being passed onto the next grade even though they weren’t prepared. After years of damage was done, some other grassroots activists started complaining that Black children were graduating from high school without knowing how to read. Well, wasn’t that the logical, predictable outcome of adopting the policy the “grassroots” Blacks said they wanted?
The Chicago Public Schools have been struggling for years to undo the damage caused by listening to these activists.
I also mentioned the fad among Black welfare mothers to get some free “crazy money.” They got this free money from having their children labeled (and stigmatized) as mentally retarded and emotionally disturbed. If you know any social workers, ask them about the “crazy money” from SSI. Its formal name is “Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payments for children with disabilities.” Large numbers of “Sheniquas” did this, but many African-Americans blame Black teachers for the mass drugging of Black children.
At any rate, I mentioned all of this before many African-Americans outside of the Washington, D.C. area were aware of individuals like Michelle Rhee. Well, now there’s a documentary out (“Waiting For Superman”) that apparently celebrates the scapegoating of public schoolteachers. This scapegoating process will continue, and escalate. An ungrateful public filled with irresponsible parents will continue to celebrate individuals like Michelle Rhee. The time for African-American women to get out of the helping professions was several years ago.
THE REASONS PRES. OBAMA WOULD TURN OUT TO BE A HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT AND DANGER TO AFRICAN-AMERICAN VOTERS
During the very first blog post at Muslim Bushido, I warned about the problems I foresaw with a Pres. Obama in office. This was why I voted for him with extreme reluctance. In fact, my worries about what would happen to African-Americans during a potential Obama Administration were what prompted me to start blogging in the first place. As I said on September 5, 2008, during that first blog post,
Those of you who know me already know that I’ve been yelling the alarm about the coming financial collapse. And about how most Black folks (due to Obama-related-mania) are not doing anything to prepare. Here’s a recap:
1. This economy is going to crash around our heads. This process has already begun. I strongly urge everyone to develop as many income streams as possible. ASAP. Depending on a single paycheck is courting disaster.
2. We haven’t seen the full extent of the damage because the powers that be (PTB) have been hiding much of the damage. The PTB have done this to protect the image of the boy-prince, George W. Bush. The PTB won’t extend the same service to Sen. Obama if he is elected president. In fact, if Obama is elected, they’ll let it all fall apart to ensure that he gets the blame for the past 8 years of fiscal mismanagement.
3. In the midst of frolicking in our Obama-mania, most Black people haven’t thought through the repercussions of having Sen. Obama elected.
4. For example, if Sen. Obama is elected president this means that the days of crying to Whites about racism are OVER. For real. They won’t entertain that noise anymore. They will say that racism can’t be that bad—after all, a Black (sort-of) man was elected president.
[For the purposes of this discussion, I won't go into detail about how in order to be the first viable "Black" presidential candidate, it seems that the candidate must be half-Other and half-foreign origin. In order to have a serious chance to be the first Black president, it helps that Sen. Obama is half-White and half-something-other-than-African-American. Politically, this is a a new "paper bag test" in operation.]
5. Black leadership (such as it is) does not have any other strategy beyond protesting racism. Collectively, Black folks don’t have a back-up plan. This is a problem.
6. If elected, a Pres. Obama will feel the need to prove to Whites that he’s not partial to us. He will do this by ignoring our issues and problems. There won’t be any help coming from an Obama Administration. Not specifically for Black folks.
7. Because Black folks are addicted to symbol over substance, most of us will continue to support a Pres. Obama no matter what he does. Even while he literally ignores us to death. After all, we “gotta support a brother.” We love seeing Black faces in high places. Even when these Black-skinned folks do a great deal of damage to our interests. [For examples, see Black folks' continued expressions of support and admiration for Colin Powell, Condoleeza Rice, etc.]
Here’s a quick reading list for those who are ready to face reality and prepare:
At Muslim Bushido, I did more than a few posts detailing how so-called “post-racial,” Crossover Black Politicians in general, and Pres. Obama in particular, would damage (and are damaging) African-Americans’ interests.
SOME PREDICTIONS MADE AT MUSLIM BUSHIDO THAT THANKFULLY HAVEN’T COME TO PASS (YET?)
- A narco-war induced, sudden collapse of the Mexican government. Leading to a sudden, massive influx of Mexican immigrants fleeing into the US. Leading to increased unemployment among African-Americans, and more drug violence in Black residential areas.
- Historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) becoming magnets and centers for HIV/AIDs infection.
- Close proximity to damaged Black men and their Black female enablers leading to an increased probability of death during the next pandemic.
I hope and pray I remain wrong about these predictions. Time will tell.
BOTTOM LINE: GET OUT OF BLACK RESIDENTIAL AREAS WHILE YOU CAN. THE LIFE YOU SAVE MIGHT BE YOUR OWN

Hey, I’m one of those girls who fled the “hood” quick. When my 11 year old daughter and I listened as a drunk felon who was on house arrest theaten to cut his girlfriends neck off I knew it was time to go. The funny thing is I didn’t even call the police. I had heard them argue so much that it became normal, we all became normal. I did and still receive off-putting comments and jabs at moving out of the hood from my extending families..aunts, cousins etc. Since I have left andmoved into suburbia land itsbeen great. I am however still working on other streams of income because I only have one (I know crazy).
Yes, I’ve been monitoring much of what you wrote about 2 years ago come to pass. Obama… pass me some Advil please! Now that I’ve spent time in DC I also saw first-hand how black female veteran teachers were viciously treated by the now former Mayor Fenty. Thousands were laid off in the Spring & Summer due to “budget shortfalls” where the money magically reappeared, disappeared and reappeared again when Fenty realized he was in danger. Michelle Rhee is very disresepctful to the community and it really annoys me how Oprah’s been cheerleading this nonsense and a bunch of other NON-BLACKS have been put in charge of the well-being of black children. Yet again, they’ve been FAILED.
I watched The Blind Side this weekend. I had dismissed it initially because the marketing was such a turnoff with its paternalistic bent. The real-life story though covered all of the issues we discuss regularly: apathy, abandonment, passing students who can’t meet the requirements of their grade level, drugs, violence, etc. There was even a line in the movie about there not being a continuation of OOW kids. While I still see the movie as promoting an underlying agenda the family that stepped in to raise the cast-off black kid did help prevent another male become a statistic.
Children are at such risk today and it seems black people are more interested in passing the buck or blaming others instead of honestly reassessing the demise of the community. While I know many women have chosen to do so I cannot imagine being on my own raising a child in today’s environment.
Stallion,
Welcome aboard!
You said, “The funny thing is I didn’t even call the police.”
Sometimes it’s best to just pack up and run.
You said, “I did and still receive off-putting comments and jabs at moving out of the hood from my extending families..aunts, cousins etc. Since I have left andmoved into suburbia land its been great.”
Yes, even though I was (and still am) enraged with the Section 8 invaders for driving me out of my all-Black, formerly middle-class childhood neighborhood with their crime, I’m MUCH more at peace in my suburb. It’s been good NOT having to go to the basement (and sleep in the basement) on New Year’s Eve to avoid the risk of being hit by “errant” celebratory gunfire.

Faith,
You said, “Obama… pass me some Advil please!”
I hear you. As I mentioned during the conversation to this post at Muslim Bushido, Pres. Obama has cured me of voting for the “lesser evil.” I won’t do that ever again. From henceforth, I’ll vote for those candidates who actually are in alignment with my values. As Rabbi Michael Lerner said in the essay I republished,
(emphasis added)
You said, “Now that I’ve spent time in DC I also saw first-hand how black female veteran teachers were viciously treated by the now former Mayor Fenty. Even though I’ve reached a place of calm acceptance with certain realities, the abuse and mistreatment of (mostly) BW public school teachers raises my blood pressure by several points. It’s infuriating because I have several relatives and friends who are teachers, and I’ve grown up seeing for myself the dedication they’ve had for the (Black) children in their classroom. I’ve watched them spend their own money on materials for the children.
I’ve heard local tales of nationally-recognized, award-winning (BW) teachers being summarily fired when their schools were summarily closed. Not to mention the summary firing of the (Black) support staff (cafeteria workers, janitorial staff) at the local public schools that have been closed, or “reconstituted,” or whatever the heck they’re calling it now.
The entire situation is disgusting. But, the main point is for BW to get OUT of the helping fields, especially get out of teaching at any level below the university level. ASAP. I just praise God that my mother (who has 2 master’s degrees, and really didn’t have to be bothered—she taught in the public schools because she cared about the Black children in her classroom) retired before the Chicago Public Schools went completely off the rails in how they treat the teachers.

This discussion makes me want to go back and watch that one movie. I think it was called Brewster Place. It’s so odd how this discussion reminds me so much of that movie. It had the wall. The black male gang terrorizing and raping folks. It had the seemingly mentally slow baby momma with all the kids different baby daddies and dirty house. It had the educated pro black afro centric chick in the movie who moved there putting herself in danger intending to learn how to be black I guess. You know what I think people would like for us to be like that girl “Kitswana”.That’s why they stay pissed at us.Oh well,(shoulder shrug).
Her momma kept it all the way real though when she gave her that little speech in her living room…..IJS.
TruthP.,
Hmmm…I vaguely recall that movie. I had forgotten that it had all those crazy elements to it. Maybe I’ll see if I can get a used copy at Amazon…
Expect Success!
It is available through Netflix, if you have a subscription.
YMB,
Thanks for the info. Maybe one day I’ll get around to subscribing to Netflix. {smile}

Truth P, I have that movie. When I first saw it 20 something years ago, I thought her mama was wrong, but now I see it differently.
Neecy said, (from other post)
How soon before you think this happens in the USA? Especially as the economy keeps disentigrating.
I believe there are several scenarios where the possibility of “peace walls” could come to fruition in the US (earlier rather than later). I currently see a possible time line of the next 5 to 10 years:
1) Some massive rampaging action where destruction of homes and what not spills into a “majority” neighborhood
2) Some murdering spree spills out and a significant number of non-AAs (i.e. White) innocent bystanders are killed
3) Some AA BM serial rapist starts racking up non-AA victims (i.e. White) in close proximity to a high risk area
4) That public services become so tight that triage is done and those areas where it is a case of diminishing returns (no real tax base for the costs associated with maintaining said area), that is more cost effective disconnect these areas from the main infrastructure and wall them off.
I am not a fortune teller but I have always been an observer of patterns, human nature and the fact that history constantly repeats itself.
Whether it comes to pass in the severity that I think it will, remains to be seen (preferably from a great distance), however, something WILL.BE.DONE.
Verry interesting Karen. And i agree. you don’t have to be a fortune teller to see what’s ahead.
Its just so sad to see so many Black Women with their heads buried under the dirt and/or up BM’s behinds.
I look at what they did in Detroit. Also look at the number of schools in Detroit low income areas that were abandoned. Its truly a sign of the times.
And better believe if other minorities living in these areas are closed in with the Blacks, just like in Los Angeles, they will turn on the Blacks and start creating race-hate based crimes. All the while these Black folks are foaming at the mouth about how minorities need to stick together.
Like I say, when other minorities start having more political power and such, you better believe they have zero tolerance for Blacks in general especially the ones who the White liberals have always taken special care to cater to with these programs and such.
TRUE.
It is so delusional to blame these poor teachers when the parents set the up for failure. How is someone going to teach a hungry, tired, undisciplined, traumatized child? That’s a job better suited to a zookeeper or a prison guard than a teacher. At this point I think that we should tie public assistance to the child’s performance in school. If little Leroy and Chantel don’t perform well in school, I say we cut of the mama’s benefits until she can show that she cares about parenting.
Let me repeat a comment that I’ve made several times in several different, but related contexts (all of this mess is interrelated). In the case of the following comment, I made it at another blog while responding to somebody who was talking the “birth control/abortion = genocide” talk:
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
THESE are the creatures who attend the public schools in the ‘hood. Not only is Sheniqua unconcerned about her brood’s academic performace, but often she AND her kids are structurally defective. And this trend is getting worse with each year that passes. The 80s crack babies had their own kis who are now having their own babies. GENERATIONS of deficiencies.

ZooPath,
You said, “It is so delusional to blame these poor teachers when the parents set the up for failure. How is someone going to teach a hungry, tired, undisciplined, traumatized child?”
Unfortunately, I don’t see that “blame the teacher” thing changing any time soon. This is because that mentality is the result of a common American character flaw—refusing to accept personal responsibility for one’s own acts and choices. Most AAs have an extreme, terminal version of this particular character flaw. I’ve never understood the “we don’t own the planes and boats that bring in the drugs” arguments. Whining about who imports the drugs does nothing to address so many AAs’ free and voluntary choice to buy the drugs. I don’t care what anybody is importing like that—I have NO interest in it, so I would never be part of their market. If AAs were serious about fighting the many ills revolving around drug use, we would start by addressing why so many of us have such an appetite for drugs.
You said, “At this point I think that we should tie public assistance to the child’s performance in school. If little Leroy and Chantel don’t perform well in school, I say we cut of the mama’s benefits until she can show that she cares about parenting.”
That’s the only thing that has any real chance of working. Unlike normal people who are parents, Sheniqua is mostly indifferent to her children’s fate. She only really cares about the public aid checks attached to the children (like many modern mercenary paid foster parents). Connecting these public aid checks to her brood’s school performance is about the only thing that will get her sustained attention.

I too am sick of the “blame the teacher” bull. There is also this new view that is creeping up with people who feel the parents AND the teacher needs to be blamed for underachieving disobedient bad students.I say NO!These people with this new view know very well that these children are being failed miserable at home by DADDY & MOMMA.They know they could no longer put it all on the teachers so now it’s lets blame the parents and the teacher. That’s a ridiculous stance because I believe MOST of the time the teacher is NOT at fault AT ALL.Fact of the matter is many of these teachers could leave black schools today and go teach the same things they were teaching to the black students to non black students at a similarly undefunded white or hispanic school and they and their non black students would be very successful. The only thing that would have been changed is the students.
BW just need to get OUT of the helping professions, especially teaching.
Expect Success!
To be honest, I got this idea from my husband. I’m glad you agree, though. Unfortunately there will be airborne swine and air conditioned hell before a policy like this is enacted.
Oh, even though this sort of policy would never be deliberately and directly enacted, I do believe that the public aid money will simply run out at some point in the near future. And then things will get even more…interesting…in Black residential areas.
Expect Success!
Khadija I have to give YOU a deep martial arts bow for this one comment alone!
Thanks; I truly appreciate it!

About the teachers: As a DC-resident, it was like watching the Twilight zone as teachers (largely black females) were blamed for the failings of those who sired these children. My mom taught (she didn’t have to, she cared about “saving the black males”) and slowly but surely acknowledged that so much rotten stuff goes on at home that the children are not fit for a TRADITIONAL, scholastic environment. I watched as the bad began outweighing the good. She noted that the underclass has serious problems that simply cannot be alleviated in school and serve to disrupt the education of educable black poor and working class students.
The problem is that the well-being and success of uneducable students becomes a drain on well-meaning teachers. Teachers-like most of us-take their careers personally and feel responsible for the results. This attitude is reinforced by a society that demands so much, yet compensates so little because “teachers should caaaaaaaare” (women’s work). As they take on more and more parental/socialworker duties, they become emotionally vested. Often they are working in loco parentis (Khadijah feel free to correct my Latin
). Well, parents typically have 2,3 kids. They don’t have 35-40 to babysit/raise/corral/discipline 5 days a week and do paperwork for the other 2. Little by little they realize that it does not get better. It doesn’t stay the same…but it does get worse. So what happens? They BURN.OUT. They check out. It becomes about the paycheck. And why shouldn’t it? To the genetic donors schools have become babysitting services.
Where I think the [black] teachers go wrong:
becoming emotionally enmeshed with these children because of phenotype. It is draining. It is fruitless. Ultimately, they will be the only ones held responsible for something that is totally beyond their control.
At some point, they have to realize that the racial solidarity banner they used to justify why they should stay in the classroom is actually making them scapegoats to situation that they did not create. At some point, they have to admit these kids (who look like them) have fundamental problems that absolutely cannot be remedied by what they do in the classroom and that the composition of students has as much to do with school success as the teachers. Covering up for underclass pathology in the face of outsiders is suicidal.
About the violence. Karen, I’d say #2 has already happened in DC:

These conversations are hard, often racist, but essential to understand what is going.to.happen. Remember, the people who venture to live in these neigborhoods (I live in this area) are social liberal/artsy/professional/progressive types who LIKE diversity (the people that truly hate black folk are west of Rock Creek Park and in the suburbs). Note the turnout for the vigil.
For newcomers to Khadijah’s work: take note of the level and direction of the outrage. Compare that with the reaction in all-black poor, middle class residential areas.
many of these commenters have noted that the black middle/upper middle class bounced in the 70s to eastern Mont. County and PG county. Where is the crime going? Eastern MoCo & PG.
LaJaneGalt,
I 100% cosign your comment. You got the Latin right.
What’s so tragic about so many BW teachers trying to work “in loco parentis” (“in the place of a parent”) is that I’ve only seen that particular Latin phrase used in the context of sovereign state or federal governments and entire institutions taking on the burden of assuming THAT level of responsibility. Off the top of my head, from reading case law or anything else, I can’t recall seeing that term used in reference to an individual taking on that burden.
I’m not saying that there aren’t areas of the law that cover an individual doing that (I have no idea if there is or isn’t). I’m just saying that off the top of my head, I don’t recall seeing that phrase used to refer to an individual person taking on that burden. I don’t recall seeing that use of the term in the case law or statutes that I’ve read (in my areas of practice). If I’ve seen it, I don’t remember seeing it. The context that I’m used to seeing that phrase used in is one where there’s either an institution or the state or federal government taking on that responsibility.

The comments on that blog are positively benign compared to what is posted to every Washington Post article mentioning black crime/poverty/OOW, et cetera. Sometimes it makes me fearful that these degenerates are making things so bad that when the peace walls go up, all black people will be forced into these contained ghettos.
Funny you mentioned the “crazy checks.” Apparently this has become such a problem that the Social Security Administration is running out of money to fund the program. And its not just folks signing up their kids anymore, adults are now doing the same thing:
“A generation ago, most disability awards went to applicants suffering from cancer or from heart ailments. But now, more than half of awards go to applicants who claim mental disabilities…which are harder for federal officials to disprove.”
“Economists say the program has grown because eligibility rules were loosened in the 1980s. Moreover, the least-educated segments of the workforce, whose job security has dwindled, are applying in disproportionate numbers for disability.”
“The crush of new enrollees is placing an unsustainable financial burden on the Disability Insurance Trust Fund. Currently, the program costs $124 billion a year. Absent changes, the fund, which is financed mostly by a 1.8 percent payroll tax, is projected to be exhausted by 2018.”
Here is the article here talking about the funding problems the Social Security Disability program is facing
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/09/13/AR2010091306493_2.html?sid=ST2010091401818
I would not be surprised if the program was completely overhauled. Here is another example of the black underclass ruining things for everybody. In the inevitable event the program is severely limited, people with legitimate disabilities will now have to go through even more hoops to get the money they need.
The other thing I found interesting about this article that it has confirmed my belief that the era of “programs” are over. These programs are simply running out of money. That was why I was shocked to see NWNW opponents talk about the need for more programs. Have they seen the news?
Once these programs are defunded, all hell is going to break loose in black underclass neighborhoods. Once those checks stop coming in and the services come to a halt, it is going to be like Lord of the Flies. People better get out while they still can.
Magenta,
You said, “Funny you mentioned the “crazy checks.” Apparently this has become such a problem that the Social Security Administration is running out of money to fund the program. And its not just folks signing up their kids anymore, adults are now doing the same thing..”

It’s not just black women getting ‘crazy money’ checks for their kids–that money was for tutoring–white women do it too, and have their new man get the checks. I don’t think they will lock up black areas, they will lock up POOR areas–’white trash’ is just as bad!
That may be true, but the majority of the people effected by the “peace walls” will be African American. The majority of white people aren’t going to make a stink about their trash being sectioned off from the rest of the population. Also, what white women do has nothing to do with uplifting BW. The “white trash” are just as bad argument is irrelevant and does not justify what AA people are doing to their own communities. White people are going to be just fine as a collective, with or without their underclass elements. Black people don’t have that luxury if you look at the state of majority Black communities.
Didn’t we just discuss thought ending cliches such as “white people do it, too” a couple blog posts ago? Also, why would it matter to us if they lock up poor black areas and poor white areas? A walled off poor white area doesn’t make a walled off black area any less walled off. I just don’t get what point you’re trying to communicate here.
I am not sure what your focus here is but your comment:
“white women do it too”
does not negate the fact that AAs are in a crisis as a collective and their behaviors are having monumental negative effects. What white women do or any other group is not the focus here, our focus is what AA Women and Girls must do to live and thrive in the difficult and challenging times ahead.
I, personally, welcome your comments that focus in that direction.
Why are you trying to redirect the conversation to what white people do? I’ve noticed you’ve done this before. Who are you???
Aisha,
I hear you, but let’s try to stay civil while talking to each other.
Expect Success!
Calpurnia,
(1) I thought more of us were clear about how irrelevant and counterproductive these “White people are doing it too” arguments are.
(2) I know how desperate many AAs are to believe that we’re not alone and unique in the depths of our dysfunction. But we are alone and unique in this mess.
NOBODY ELSE HAS TAKEN CERTAIN DYSFUNCTIONS TO THE DEPTHS THAT AAs HAVE GONE. I see this reflected in what I’ve observed in the court system. If and when dysfunctional people from most other ethnic groups clean themselves up, THEY HAVE A FUNCTIONING COLLECTIVE TO RETURN TO. WE DON’T.
(3) The “poor White trash” individual is STILL part of the White American collective that provides employment for and feeds AAs!
(4) Even in terms of the underclass Mexican criminals that I’ve represented, the Mexican women who play by their shared cultural rules will generally be PROTECTED and PROVIDED for by most Mexican men. In general, Mexican men (affluent, middle class, underclass, criminal element) PROVIDE for their wives/women and children.
I’ve done rotations in child support courtrooms. There are racial/ethnic patterns to how the named fathers react. There usually has to be something extremely wrong with a Mexican woman (as in flagrantly promiscuous) for a Mexican man to even want a paternity test. It’s mostly AA males who are looking to duck and dodge having to claim (much less support) their own children. With WM, it’s about 50/50.
(5) By contrast, no matter what an AA women do, most AA males WON’T protect or provide for the BW they impregnate; nor will they provide for their children. This totally different context is why these “White people do it too” assertions are irrelevant, in addition to being inaccurate. NO, White people are NOT doing “it” to the degree that AAs are.
Expect Success!
If and when dysfunctional people from most other ethnic groups clean themselves up, THEY HAVE A FUNCTIONING COLLECTIVE TO RETURN TO. WE DON’T.
TRUE.
Ihad relatives tell other people to sign up for those “crazy checks’. Chat the goverment oh real smart. WE as BW have to obtain as many passive incomes to prepre ourselves. I love the articles and how you are prophetic. You give us the truth so will not be lulled in to any illusions or delusions.
Thanks for the information and I have already let other women know about this blog.
Keep up the excellent work.
Nysee,
You’re welcome; and thank YOU for your kind words and support. I truly appreciate it.

I don’t think you are far off with the Mexican Narco war. The news that I see sometimes is astonishing: the horrifying decapitations, murdered elected officials (there’s a town where the Mayors keep getting killed), places that used to be tourist traps are empty, the recent killing of a jet-ski tourist who wandered over to Mexico and got shot by a drug gang, and so on.
What gets me is that our government knows that Mexico is a seeping volcano. Why such deference to that government’s mess, which is easing into this country? Why the unconcern about protecting the border? Do they calculate some sort of benefit from it?
Then again, this government does ignore disaster warnings … and is only able to drop food / bombs on 3rd world countries.
You do have me wondering: if someone is living in a dangerous area, why would they need to be told (twice, if not, thrice) that somewhere else is safer? Even frightened animals know to run away.
BettyChambers,
Yes, time will tell about the Mexican Narco war situation. Considering that we share a border with that country, one would think the US government would at least as vigilant about that situation as they are hysterical about distant al-Qaeda. One of the few good things that came out of the post-9/11 hysteria is that the US government (temporarily) tightened up the border with Mexico.
One of the few good things I credit the Obama Administration with is how—according to various news stories I’ve read—they’ve quietly done better than the Bush Administration with deporting illegal aliens and imposing heavy fines on the business owners who employ them.
You said, “You do have me wondering: if someone is living in a dangerous area, why would they need to be told (twice, if not, thrice) that somewhere else is safer? Even frightened animals know to run away.”
Indoctrination can often block rational self-preservation. That’s thing about free will vs. unfettered animal instinct. People have the free will to act in ways that will get them killed. {sigh}

One of the reasons behind the wall(s), [being] built, in Rio has to do with the Olympics sporting event that will take place there in a few years. The modern-day Olympics requires that a location’s poor, its “unwashed masses”, be out of sight; in addition to sucking billions of dollars of its citizens’ money (tax dollars) to pay for it to happen! (Really, the money that the Olympics supposedly brings in to a host city doesn’t equal, nor exceeds, the amount of money the host city pours out for the event. I was so very, very, very glad when the city I live in lost our bid to host the Olympics.) Remember China: All the poor of Beijing were chased out of there for the Olympics–housing was reconfigured; certain people were no longer allowed entry into the city. In Rio, the poor (mostly the blacks) are already sectioned off, high up on the hills, in favelas–a wall is just further imprisonment of them.
Rhonda,
You said, “I was so very, very, very glad when the city I live in lost our bid to host the Olympics.”
Guurl, I prayed, prayed, and prayed some more for Chicago to NOT win the bid for the Olympics. And I praised God when Chicago lost. That mess would not have benefitted anybody except Da Mare’s cronies. I’m still enraged about the historic teaching hospital (Michael Reese) that was torn down while Da Mare was plotting and scheming in preparation for getting to host the Olympics. Chicago’s Black residential neighborhoods are already medically underserved.
Several nurse friends and relatives have explained to me about the different trauma center levels (with Level 1 being the highest level of care). http://www.dhss.mo.gov/TCD_System/National_defination_of_Levels_of_Trauma_Centers.pdf
Trauma centers are used to treat shootings, stabbings, car crashes and other accidents. Apparently, there are only FOUR adult trauma centers in Chicago. NONE of which are located on the South Side!
http://www.chicagonewscoop.org/a-death-sparks-a-demand-for-care/
Michael Reese Hospital used to have a Level II or III trauma center. It quit the city’s trauma network in 1989:
http://articles.chicagotribune.com/1989-12-29/news/8903210685_1_trauma-network-trauma-patients-trauma-care
I mentioned this trauma center stuff in some detail because it’s all interrelated. When silly people bash NWNW in the assumption that somebody’s going to create “programs” to replace the missing father, they’re not in touch with reality. There are so many other, much more important and worthwhile things that need to be supported with tax dollars. Such as trauma care centers.
Expect Success!
The cynic in me sees this as deliberate. The most violent areas have the least access to a trauma centers. The end result is that these people will die before they can be treated.
The conclusion to be drawn is that is exactly what is desired. Unfortunately, innocent victims die along with those who perpetrate the violence.
Again a clear message: AA Women and girls must leave high risk areas or accept the inevitable fate…an early most probably horrible DEATH
Karen,

Just to help you get your point across on the NWNW opponents and their ludicrous beliefs that the the children of these women will be able to survive because of programs and government money here is a little info on somethings going on in my neck of the woods.
http://stnonline.com/blogs/safe-at-the-stop/2672-student-death-message-on-budget-cuts
“It was a headline that grabbed me instantly, “Budget Cuts Kept Boy Killed By Car Off School Bus.” Sensationalistic? Yes. But it had its roots in reality. The boy, an 8-year-old named Devar Washington, was crossing the street when he was struck and killed. Cincinnati Public School officials confirmed the fact that Devar’s route was cut due to budget constraints, keeping him off the bus and putting him on the streets because he lived one mile or less from his school.
This is just one case of what could happen if more and more budgets are cuts, routes reduced and children kicked off the bus. I won’t rehash the statistics we’ve all heard about how the school bus reduces congestion, but it only takes some common sense to see how less children on the roads and fewer cars could equate to a reduction in the number of accidents involving pedestrians.”
Also Khadija as you know I have been working doing daycare part time and dogwalking.Well a few months back many daycare providers were not getting their money from the government. If it wasn’t for the fact that some providers have some children, who mostly come from 2 parent homes ,who’s parents make too much money to be eligible for childcare assistance many of them would not have been able to get paid at all. Some providers didn’t have any children who paid out of pocket so there were black women who couldn’t pay their rent, utilities, car notes etc.It got really bad for some folks.
Note that during this time some people,i’m speaking of black women, quit working with the daycares and searched for other jobs leaving not enough employees for the number of children there so some kids could no longer come to daycare. Then some people, mostly the welfare to work single black mother crowds, were told not to bring their children into the daycares if they couldn’t pay out of pocket. They, the gov.,have since completely changed the way they pay their daycare workers, they only get paid once a month now. This change was completely left field for most because most of the women were living pay check-pay check with little or no savings and children of their own.

http://www.wlwt.com/money/23754659/detail.html
My apologies Khadija but this kinda goes along with a comment I just sent regarding the budget cuts in my neck of the woods.I’d like for the women here to keep in mind that alot of these women ARE COLLEGE educated from Universities that are had or are having these issues. My own cousin is college educated and went to school for child psychology. She planned on getting a job with the City or State and she has not been able to find employment in her field. They are NOT hiring. She is going back to school I believe. Some of the daycare providers I know personally also hold associates degrees in child psychology as well as other college business management degrees and their fate was the same as some of the other lesser educated daycare providers. They were all struggling together.I think that ties into what you were saying about black women leaving the helping professions….I hope it does and that I have’nt gone off topic.
TruthP.,
No, you haven’t gone off topic at all. This is all connected. The bottom is that AAs can’t keep assuming that things will continue as they have been in the past. We can’t assume that various government programs will still exist.
We also can’t assume that local and federal governments will continue to pay whatever contractors (daycare providers, school suppliers, etc.) they’ve been paying in the past.
I feel awful about the daycare providers you mentioned. I feel terrible when any person who WORKS for a living is put in that sort of position.
Ladies, we must develop several income streams. Particularly income streams that aren’t directly or indirectly dependent on the government.

Even the 2nd Bush stated that we cannot depend on the government.
Take note. We all have been warned.
Ladies, As far as a college education is concern your best bet is in the HEALTH SCIENCES NOT SOCIAL WORK.

Rhonda you are 100% correct. I lived in Atlanta before and after the 96 Games.
Brazil will have the ’14 World Cup and the ’16 games. The peace walls are definitely part of that. You haven’t seen elimination of poverty until you see the Olympics.
I don’t mean to derail, but in every single instance where the Olympics have been hosted in the United States, it has made a profit – every single time. This is due mainly to the fact that the organizers relied very heavily on corporate sponsorship. I can’t speak to the impact of the games on the city’s poor though. You may very well be right that they saw none of the $10 million in profits that the city made, and they were probably removed to places where they wouldn’t be an “eyesore.”

As per prediction #2: I was just talking to 2 young women about college choices and went over this, among other issues, with them. I started doing HIV/AIDS education and prevention work while attending an HBCU and at that time folks were not trying to hear the idea that they could get infected and treated me like I was crazy for doing awareness work. I knew of several heartbreaking cases of students becoming infected.
I’m hoping that the prevention message is changing behavior on campuses, but there are several articles indicating that the infection problem continues, as well as hearsay. This is of course one of the areas of conversation in which people try to shut the conversation down and say you are indicting HBCUs (since it happens everywhere…) or scapegoating bisexual/gay black men who have sex with women, etc.. Among the interesting findings from a study on the North Carolina HIV Outbreak among black college students was that among the men, in the year prior to their diagnoses, 4% said they had sex only with women, and 33% said that they had sex with both men and women. The lead researcher characterizes this pattern is most likely a reflection of the HIV transmission patterns among young black men in the Southeast. The study co-author, said that because 40% of the college men with HIV in the study reported having sex with women, “a substantial number of heterosexual college women are at a significant unrecognized risk for HIV infection.”

Having worked in health care, I see that this of course goes beyond campus and in to the “real world” as you probably realize. There are many times when an HIV infected partner/spouse has confided in the medical staff that they are infected–the same staff that is speaking to you and may even be providing primary care to you too, but they will not and can not inform you of your partner/spouse’s infection. Even if you come back and test positive and wonder aloud..”I wonder how I got this..” They will look you right in the eye, cluck sympathetically, hand you materials, send you home and not.say.a.word. And the originally infected partner continues to not say anything either. Black women are starting to talk a lot about health, but we are not always including the HIV epidemic and prevention into our personal health program.
Nathalie,

Sadly, since AAs haven’t joined “the reality based community” since HIV/AIDs began over 20 years ago, I don’t expect large numbers of us to join now.

No, because AA women are mostly still on Fantasy Island when it comes to their sexual relationships (among other things involving BM).

Hmmm, what are the blk. politicians doing?
I live in Memphis, and the very thing that’s been happening in Detroit and Flint is beginning to happen here. There hasn’t been any discussion that I know of of tearing down neighborhoods, but I see the decline of various homes in certain areas. I also see where homes have been torn down, leaving vacant lots. I suspect that more of this will be happening, since it’s cheaper to pay property taxes on a plot of land as opposed paying them with a houe on it.
I’m preparing to get outta here, too.
Well I have left the falling city
I have a tennant who is now paying my mortgage and I have put my things in storage. Just waiting to take my class and I am on the first flight out of this cesspool. It can happen!

WOW, there is alot being said here. I have to say that I have NEVER lived in a black area in my life. Not a neighborhood, not a town, and even a city or State it has always been predominantly white. I’ve never had a black teacher before (I’ve always wanted one)so my experience has been with white women and their favoritism. I’ve even experienced this with my own children and I’ve had to pull them out of public school and homeschool them for a couple of years. They are now back in a public school and still doing VERY WELL, but I always make sure I know all of my options for them.
Now with pro-life issues I am defiantly pro-life. However I have to say it has never been to ‘get raw numbers’. I just don’t think it’s healthy even for the mom to abort a child. Somehow these conceptions need to be prevented. I’m sure the bulk of people getting pregnant with unplanned children have the ability to prevent it, with many options available to prevent pregnancies. I just can’t fathom how any pregnancy occurs without realization that a child will/can be produced. I’m not talking about a rape. I have to admit this is a very, very, scary underclass that was mentioned.
In terms of options, we all have many options. The library is filled with books that can be rented for free. Learning about the things around you and the things that you are interested in, is a way to know more about those options. With or without lots of money. As the word/Bible say wisdom is a shelter as money is a shelter. This has been true in my life.
As far a programs I wish the government would do away with them altogether all across the board. There are many, many white people who are benefiting ( using them and then moving up) from them largely, and if they government starts attaching more conditions ( which are subject to individual interpretation), then more white people will be able to benefit/pass through while blacks are held back/ shut off creating a larger gap. Like I said I live where the people are predominantly white so I see what they are up to.
I have taught at a private Christian school-all white students. And I thought some of those kids were in trouble. And the parents were unresponsive-but I haven’t ever experienced anything like what was mentioned above! I have always wondered why statistically things aren’t panning out for AA when I would look around and see every one doing okay. I guess I’m so detached. Here on the news whenever someone robs/rapes/kills/stills-they are always white. Hmm.
“Now with pro-life issues I am defiantly pro-life. However I have to say it has never been to ‘get raw numbers’. I just don’t think it’s healthy even for the mom to abort a child.”
Abortion is one of the safest procedures out there. Back-alley, underground abortions are what cause major problems such as infections, sterility and death. Which is exactly what will happen if abortion becomes illegal. For this reason alone, I will always be pro-choice, regardless of my personal feelings on the issue.
“I’m sure the bulk of people getting pregnant with unplanned children have the ability to prevent it, with many options available to prevent pregnancies. I just can’t fathom how any pregnancy occurs without realization that a child will/can be produced.”
What I find interesting is that the cheapest and most widely available method of birth control (condoms) requires the man’s participation. Nearly every other effective method of birth control (pills, NuvaRing, DepoProvera, cervical cap, IUD’s etc) requires a doctor’s visit and prescription. This can become an issue to those who are struggling financially-getting to doctor’s office, paying for visit, paying for contraceptives, etc).
In addition, most doctors are pressured to prescribe birth control pills, because pharmecutical companies make more money this way. However, many women have a hard time remembering to take a pill at the same time every day. Doctors will “steer” women away from options that might be better, or even flat out refuse to prescribe/perform them (such as IUD”s).
Squarlymade,
I agree to disagree about abortion.
As far as I’m concerned, these defective individuals I’m describing are a menace to the rest of us. The AA collective would be physically safer and much healthier without them.
During the African Americans and Inception conversation, another reader described her experiences with teaching in the ‘hood. What she described is the reality that I’ve heard over the years from the BW teachers I know. She said:
I said the following in response to this comment:

These sorts of “students” are NOT fit for a normal, educational environment. More folks need to wake up about that fact.

I’m so glad to see this article. I live in the Southern suburbs of Chicago, and I’m ready to run. I’ve never lived in a bad neighborhood in my life until now, and it’s due to government housing and the rug rats who come with it. I can guarantee that I will be out of here next year, and I’m not headed to the north side, I’m headed out of state. Honestly, if the housing market weren’t so bad, I think the majority of black middle class families who moved out here years ago would be gone. I have no interest in listening to anyone who says I should stay to support the “community”, I have no interest in mentoring any of these bad a** kids with ignorant mothers/fathers/guardians, I have no interest in watching drug deals go on outside of my window, and endure slow police response. I know there are wonderful, decent, moral, hard working, upstanding, law abiding black citizens on the south side of Chicago and the southern suburbs, but the stigma associated with this side of town is embarrassing. As for the single black women, while you are getting things together, get a gun, learn how to use it, use it, and move. We deserve to live in safe neighborhoods. Time for some black flight!
I agree. I would add that a shotgun is great for home defense. Your aim doesn’t have to be as good as it does with a handgun, you don’t have to worry about the pellets going through the wall into your neighbor’s apt, etc cetera, and there are generally fewer restrictions against buying shotguns. And if you are into target shooting and whatnot, I recommend joining an Izaak Walton League Chapter if there’s one near you. They typically have shooting ranges and a membership there is way cheaper than paying to use a commercial range on any regular basis.
We are in the midst of The End Of The World As We Know It: The past post WW2, seven decades long, suburban sprawl, automobile-centered culture is unsustainable — because of the global economic collapse, and the fact that the petrol will run out (Peak Oil). You’ve got to consider the aforementioned, too, when you make your decision to flee your black neighbourhood. If you plan to stay in the US, where is the best place to go? James Howard Kunstler has done, is doing, some good work around the issues of Peak Oil and Suburban Sprawl. In addition to his books and a blog, he has a quasi-weekly podcast. Below are links to shows #91 and #92, which break down the US by region as to where are the “best” places to be when the oil runs out.
Long Emergency US Tour, Part One
In this in installment, James Howard Kunstler predicts how various regions of the United States will fare during the coming energy crisis that he anticipates. Kunstler refers to the coming crisis as “The Long Emergency.” In the first part of this discussion, Kunstler discusses: the Southern States, the Southwest, the Pacific Northwest and the Rockies. A listener call reacts to the Happy Motoring podcast and Duncan closes the show with the Esso Happy Motoring song.
Long Emergency US Tour, Part Two
In this in part two of this discussion, James Howard Kunstler predicts how various regions of the United States will fare during the coming energy crisis that he anticipates. Kunstler refers to the coming crisis as “The Long Emergency.” In this half of the discussion, Kunstler discusses: the Great Plains, the Upper Midwest, the Mid Atlantic and New England. He also talks about issues with fresh water scarcity.
Khadija,
You have just been on fire these past few weeks! Here is another prediction of yours that is coming true- and finally being covered in mainstream media: The concentration of poverty is shifting from cities to the suburbs. Suburbs take hit as US poverty climbs in downturn
“A pair of analyses by the nonprofit Brookings Institution paints a bleak economic picture for the 100 largest metropolitan areas over the past decade and in coming years, and finds that suburbs now are home to one-third of the nation’s poor, and rising.
The study of census data finds that since 2000, the number of poor people in the suburbs jumped by 37.4 percent to 13.7 million. The growth rate of suburban poverty is more than double that of cities and higher than the national rate of 26.5 percent…
Cities still have higher poverty rates — about 19.5 percent, compared with 10.4 percent in the suburbs. But the gap has been steadily narrowing. In a reversal from 2000, the number of poor people living in the suburbs now exceeds those in cities by roughly 1.6 million.”
Rhonda,
Thanks for the hulu link and the reference to James Howard Kunstler. His book, The Long Emergency, should be required reading. I’ve also enjoyed his blog from time to time. Has anybody read his novel, World Made By Hand? If so, was it worth reading?

Adrienne, you already know this (because you live in this area), but let me repeat some things for the national/international readers. I said the following during the 8/2009 conversation about razing cities,
______________________________________________
YMB,
Thank you for your kind words; I truly appreciate it.
You said, “Here is another prediction of yours that is coming true- and finally being covered in mainstream media: The concentration of poverty is shifting from cities to the suburbs.”
Oh, yeah. That came up during the 8/2009 conversation about the impending razing of huge (namely AA sections) of several cities. What you’re referring to is the part of that conversation where I said,
Expect Success!
Everybody,
For the benefit of new readers, let me repeat some other comments I made during the 8/09 razing of the cities conversations that folks need to consider:
To end this extended quote on a positive, productive note:
I said the following to a reader,
Expect Success!
I’m going to have to take up the, “Act as If” mantra.
I’ve been working on some side projects, but to be honest, I have been totally lazy and round-about with them. I’ve been playing at being productive. But as I’ve sat here for a minute with this post (and decided to not go out this evening to tend to some chores so that tomorrow I’ll be well rested and with painted nails and styled hair and a cleaner bedroom), I realized that I need to Act as If my projects will be funded, and my artistic products sold. I need to Act as If my looks are of value and get a good night’s sleep tonight. This is a long weekend and I can go out on Saturday AND Sunday evening. Which means that I needed to stay home tonight. I will have a chance to meet up with these specific people next week (and they include some quality men) when I’m not so tired and pushing myself out of the door.
Khadija, I fully believe the narco war is coming to the U.S. They are not playing about their dollars, and unlike AA’s who will shoot someone over Nikes, these folks will find out who your relatives are and pressure point you from there. I’m VERY uncertain about the next crop of Central American politicians that may be springing up in some urban areas. They don’t even pretend to cater to WHITE folks! They’ve held marches with MEXICAN flags and posters of Martin Luther King demanding that AMERICA (a country many admit they snuck into) cater to them!** What does that say?
Did all of America miss the civil wars in Central America for the past 20-40 years or so? Mexico can barely keep their journalists alive right now*. They CANNOT contain their own issues, hence the drama that they keep bringing about America needing newer immigration laws. I don’t hear that mess from the Chinese, the Indians, the Russians. If anything, THEY complain about how the Mexicans can just hop on over, when THEIR people are better skilled. If immigration laws were REALLY up for grabs, then anyone born on American soil wouldn’t be a citizen, and we would have far more legal immigrants from the Ukraine, Poland, India, etc… .
* I don’t expect to hear any REAL news out of Mexico at this point. People are trying to not be killed, do you think that these reporters are going to ACTUALLY start putting down what’s going on? Or that their editors would allow it? We’re only hearing the tippy tip of that iceberg in the power shift.
** I’m not writing this as someone who “hates” or dislikes Hispanics in particular. That’s nonsense. But the ones who have immigrated post late 90′s as A GROUP have a different mentality than the ones who I grew up with and are familiar with regardless of country. I’ve never seen the contempt and entitlement like this before, as if no one knows what the history of the countries that they left were like. It has gotten to the point (and the economy has helped this realization) that when given the choice, they won’t even hire WHITE folks if they can help it. If that isn’t a sign (to move to someone else’s house that they built and have contempt for them), I really don’t know what is. And for the record, Rev. Al, Jesse J. and a whole host of black progressive bloggers are being pimped in ways I’ve never seen before. You’re totally right, NO OTHER minority group has EVER gone from being enslaved and sold to being able to have fully equal voting rights, traveling privileges, Universities, Social Iconic Status, Armed Force Units that were amazing despite being segregated, an increase in literacy rates, pioneered new musical forms that have been embraced by the world, like AA’s… in a century. We only have a black president due to the legal & social battles that WE fought for. Hasn’t ANYONE ever guessed why when other groups bring up discrimination in this country, they always compare it to us? DUH. We had it the worst (well, besides Native Americans, but we’re the only ones left in significant numbers). We opened the doors FOR them to come here and benefit. In my opinion, they’ve been open for too long.
IRockIRoll:

It’s true.
IRock,IRoll,
You said, “I’m going to have to take up the, “Act as If” mantra.”
Good for you. Like I said, I’ve found that it does wonders.
You said, “Khadija, I fully believe the narco war is coming to the U.S. They are not playing about their dollars, and unlike AA’s who will shoot someone over Nikes, these folks will find out who your relatives are and pressure point you from there.”
Oh, yeah. Dem folks are operating at several orders of magnitude beyond idiotic AA criminals. This reminds me of something that I recall from the crack influx years of the 80s. At that time, it was a popular AA fad to claim that AA male drug dealers were so smart and so clever. And if they had only “been given a chance” to flourish, they had the brains to become captains of legitimate industry.
Well, I already knew that was some bs—simply by comparing Negro wannabe drug kingpins to serious drug lords like the Cali Cartel in Columbia. And then, by the 90s, there were allegations that these AA male dealers weren’t all that bright. And didn’t have the organizational skills that their grassroots excuse-makers claimed they had. Instead, there were allegations that the CIA propped up these Negroes and their crack dealing to assist the Nicaraguan Contras. And that the AA male crack dealers had performed the traditional AA service of being a pawn for other people(s).
Also, compare the following to what modern AA wannabe gangsters do:
Now, as I’ve said before, I will grudgingly give some credit to the old-school AA “numbers” mobsters. But modern AA criminals are generally idiots.
Another observation I’ve made from working in the court system is how far too many members of local US law enforcement are not very energetic; nor are they very bright. Most prosecution cases depend on the utter stupidity of most criminal defendants. I pray the day doesn’t come when local US law enforcement is tasked with dealing with either widespread political violence, or serious (as in foreign) drug trafficking cartels.

My reactions to groups are based on the collective attitudes on display with various groups. Even though I want ALL illegal aliens deported, if I had to do a ranking I’d say that the European ones (Chicago has a huge legal and illegal Polish population) and the Indian ones don’t annoy me anywhere near as much as the Mexicans/Latinos. Because these other types of illegals have the sense to STFU and not openly make waves. I can respect that from an (unwelcome) guest.
You said, “And for the record, Rev. Al, Jesse J. and a whole host of black progressive bloggers are being pimped in ways I’ve never seen before.”
Yep. It makes me wonder what anti-Black racist Latinos have to do for these fools to wake up and smell the coffee. I don’t get it.

I just wanted to say thank you for reminding us that black women need to leave the helping professions. I’m a teacher who will be doing just that. As someone experiencing what you speak of, I know how difficult this is. Careers are being destroyed and many of them black women’s. We can’t even expect fair and unbiased treatment from black administrators. They are too busy wanting to please the white higher ups. In fact, the black admins are usually far worse than the white ones. It has gotten so bad that I tell parents to homeschool *if they are able.* The parents are not those of my students of course, but others I know. If they cannot homeschool than they should do all they can to send them to private schools (not charters but bona fide private schools). My daughter is only a year and I’m doing my homework and financial planning for a private education. Why? The public school system is getting so bad that I fear for good parents that have no other choice but to send them there. So just in case anyone is doubting Khadija’s claims about black female teachers, I and many others can confirm her words.
LorMarie,

You’re welcome, and thank YOU for giving your testimony. I’ve seen what you’ve described of the Black administrators’ behavior play out in other professional contexts. So many “think they’re savvy, but actually they’re naive” Black folks mistakenly believe that they can save themselves by helping outsiders to screw over other Blacks.**
No…all that happens is that these sort of AAs get devoured last by the outsiders. These types of Blacks don’t realize that they serve one purpose only—to be the Black/AA face in charge of getting rid of the other Blacks/AAs. Once the other Blacks/AAs are gone, they serve no further purpose for the outsider, and then they’re kicked to the curb. Just during my own adult working life, I’ve seen this process happen over and over again in various contexts; and somehow most AAs never learn. It’s amazing.
**[We talked about this during the "Full Circle Back to Sharecropping" conversation, in terms of the AA businesswomen that were aiding and abetting the Dominican takeoever of the AA hair care/salon market. For those who are confused about why this is a problem, since so many (if not most) Dominicans are racially "Black"...Consider the fact that, as always, the transfer of money is going in ONE direction. AWAY from AAs and TO non-AAs. Silly AA women are paying Dominicans to do their hair, and silly AA salon owners are buying Dominican hair products. How many Dominicans are paying AA stylists to do their hair? How many Dominican salon owners are buying hair care products manufactured by AAs? I would guess none or next to none. AAs invest in non-AAs. Non-AAs don't invest in us. That's the problem.]
You said, “If they cannot homeschool than they should do all they can to send them to private schools (not charters but bona fide private schools).”
That charter school mess is a giant money-making hoax/scam; similar to the privatizing of many prisons in the US. At first, I was mildly curious about researching which persons and entities were behind this charter school fad. But then I realized that it doesn’t matter. The point is for AA women to get OUT of the various helping fields—before they’re kicked out and have their livelihoods and careers destroyed.
LorMarie, good luck and Godspeed with your own professional journey!

***Note to Readers***
In making this new site the kind of project that’s sustainable for me over the long-run, I’ve had to streamline how I handle certain things. The comments section is one of them. What this means is that I’ll give substantive responses to those folks who enter the conversations early (as I did across the board at the previous blog).
After each post is a couple of days old, I’ll generally continue to publish new comments from readers. (That meet the commenting guidelines as set forth at the previous blog—those who are unfamiliar can read the comment “box” at the previous blog.)
But, after a each post is a couple of days old, I generally WON’T continue responding to new comments.
In other words, I’ll continue to publish comments to this post, but I’m not going to reply to any more comments in this thread. FYI. Please feel free to talk among yourselves!
